I'm not sure what font your colleague is using. In PowerPoint, they might want to change the font of their Chinese text to Arial Unicode MS. It contains wider set of characters. Then, just have them save your PowerPoint file and try to publish it again.
If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll see if I can find some additional suggestions.
