Closed Captioning in Articulate 09

Mar 06, 2013

Hi everyone,

We need to include videos in our courses with closed captions for 508 compliance and accessibility. We cannot link to YouTube videos, which would be the easiest option. I was hoping to import a Flash file that uses the Flash Playback component, but the resulting SWF points to other SWFs which Articulate doesn't seem to recognize when I test and publish the file.

I'd really like to find a way to incorporate a video player into Articulate that works with a caption file (e.g. xml or txt) instead of using on-screen text and animation or notes, as suggested by some of the existing discussions on closed captioning, including:

  • Storyline Example: http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/14677.aspx
  • Closed Captions: http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/12396/76044.aspx

We have four courses that have been developed in Presenter 09, so if the solution is to use Storyline, can we easily import them over?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Elizabeth
