Course does not Publish

Apr 12, 2013

Hi

I created a course some months ago and was updating it today. However, I when click "Publish" and select the option to where I publish to. Nothing happens. In fact the previous version of the course was removed and new version did not publish.

Any idea what is happening here?

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Pam

Hi Pam,

Are you working with project files from an external source, by any chance? Try to make sure you're modifying and publishing from local files only, if possible.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Let me know if you still have trouble with the file publishing.

Thanks!

Hi Pam!

Thanks for getting back to me!

If you can, please try creating a new, blank Presenter course. Try adding a little bit of content to the course, then try publishing the course. Does the same thing happen?

If so, it may be a problem with the installation of Presenter. The first step would be to try running a repair on the software, Please follow the steps outlined in the following article:

Articulate Support > How to repair Presenter

If you do not see the same thing happen with the new file, there may be a problem with the original course. However, we may still be able to get that course working for you. Try following the steps in in the article below to restore a corrupted PowerPoint file:

Articulate Support > Here's how to fix a corrupt PowerPoint file

Thanks again, Pam. I hope this helps!

Hey Christine

I created a course from scratch and still would not publish. I also can't Preview files and receive the attached message when trying to preview a slide.

Next step is to repair but I don't know where the original installation files is. Can't see it on my C drive.

Where do I download again from?

Pam

Hi Pam,

Thanks for the file! Hmm, to be honest that wasn't the error I expected to see. Normally that's a rendering issue. Before reinstalling or repairing, you may want to make sure that you're running the latest version of Flash on your machine.

Please visit the following Adobe page to find out what version you're currently running. If you don't have the most recent version, please download and install the latest release of Flash. Restart your machine then try previewing and publishing again.

Find Version | Flash Player - Adobe

If that doesn't help, it may be best to go ahead and reinstall Studio. However, please be sure you do so by following the steps outlined in the following article:

Unexpected or erratic behavior in Articulate Studio '09

If you have any trouble with this, please let me know.

Thanks!

Christine
