Creating a video file

Mar 06, 2013

Is there a way to create a video file from an Articulate course? I would like to create one file that users can click on to view the presentation, without having to download all the files that get created when published. We want to be able to post a course onto our website with just one source file instead of multiple files.

Hi Michelle. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

One thing I wanted to touch on - you mentioned you don't want the users to view multiple files from your project. How exactly are you distributing the course, if the users are seeing multiple files? The only instance where I can see this happening is if you provide CD published output to a user, instead of burning it to a CD. If you create a presentation and upload it to a web server, or LMS, the user would only need to access the URL for that course, they won't need to look at any files. However, maybe I'm just not understanding the situation.

If you're wanting to record the course and provide it in an actual video file that can be sent out, you'd probably want to find a third-party video recording program. I'm sure there's a few out there that would work well for you.

Can you share some additional details about the course and maybe how you're sharing the current content? If so, maybe the community can give you some suggestions.

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Christine - Thanks for the response.

When I publish the course to Web, I am not able to upload the presentation files to the Sharepoint folder because there are too many files. When I try to upload to our intranet, it locks up because there are too many files.  Maybe I'm uploading the wrong thing? After publishing I try to copy the entire folder onto web. Maybe there's a different way?

Hi Michelle,

Hmm, strange. Personally, I haven't used SharePoint to host a course, but I have seen a few discussions where it's come up. One particular thread that I think may be helpful can be seen using the link below:

You may also want to check out the following article and tutorial:

Hopefully that'll help with the process Let me know if you run into any problems, or have any questions.

Thanks!
