I have a presentation that has sound files incorporated into it (voiceover). Most slides are set up to have the individual click the next button after the voiceover is completed. However, we want to force a delay of about 10 seconds before the user can click the next button and move forward. Is there a way to do this or even possible?
If using the built-in buttons, you will create 2 triggers. Order is important here. But first create a cue point on the timeline where you want the button to become active. Simply go to the timeline and move the playhead where you want to cue point. Right click and add cuepoint.
Hi Jill! Looks like Walt has popped in to assist you here. If you need further assistance, be sure to share your .story file for someone to take a peek.
I think the following documentation will assist you:
It can be useful to change the state of an object or character at a certain point during a slide's timeline. There are two ways to do it in Articulate Storyline 2—when the timeline reaches a specific time or a specific cue point. See this article for details.
Sure; The timeline is at the bottom of the screen. If you can't see it, try this...
Goto the View Tab and then click Redock All Windows.
You should then be able to see a dock right below the "stage" with 3 tabs (Timeline, States, and Notes)
To create the Cue point, move the Playhead (a blue inverted triangle) to the point at which you want the Next button to be enabled. Right-click on the playhead and then choose "Create Cue Point at Playhead"
Hi, Amy -- Thanks for reaching out here, and to clarify, is there a certain amount of additional time that would like each slide to remain on screen after the slide is complete?
Hi, Amy -- Thanks so much for your reply, and you can control or increase the duration of a slide (regardless if it has no audio or animation) via "Sync Animations” and let the timer run. For instance, if you want to set the duration of Slide 1 to 15 seconds, click on “Sync Animations” then Start Sync. Monitor the timer on top, once 15 seconds have elapsed, press Stop Sync. Hope that helps for what you have in mind!

Hi Jill,
Are you using the built-in Next button in the Player OR are you using buttons you have built?

Now for the triggers:
The top trigger will be:
Change State of Next Button (on player)
To State - Disabled
When Timeline starts
THE NEXT TRIGGER IS
Change State of Next Button (on player)
To State - Normal
When Timeline reaches
Cue point #1
That will do it.
Have fun!

Thanks Walt! I'm not quite sure where the timeline is or how to create a cue point. Any advice?

Hi Team,
I'm having the same issue but I'm not using Storyline. We are using Studio '13. Can you please explain how this can be done with this software?
Thanks,
Amy.
Hi, Amy -- Thanks for reaching out here, and to clarify, is there a certain amount of additional time that would like each slide to remain on screen after the slide is complete?
Hi Christie,
Yes – 5 seconds per slide should be fine.
Regards,
Amy.
