Disabling the Next Button without hiding it?

Jun 29, 2017

Hello!

I'm using Studio 360. I've had a request to disable to NEXT button on the player but leave it visiable rather than hiding it? They want to only allow the learner to use the previous button. (The course is set to auto advance the pages) I've tried locking the navigation but that also locks the previous button. I have a seek bar on the player as well which I've already made that "read only"

Any suggestions?

Hi Carla,

Studio doesn't have the same functions to "disable" a player button like Storyline does - since you're using Articulate 360, have you looked at building this in Storyline?

Also, would the next button become enabled at any point? I could imagine that being a bit frustrating to a user - a button they can see, but that they can't actually click.  I'd prefer to not see it and just know that the course will auto-advance. 😉

Hi Ashley,

I agree with you...the next button will never be enabled in the course in question.  I've been using Studio since 09 version so I can crank out courses in it pretty quickly. I do plan to learn Storyline.

The interactions etc are much mor engaging. I have created a few interactions in it. My next plan is to import/upload my presenter slides into Storyline to publish so I can incorporate the interactions.

For now, I'll see if removing the NEXT button is a deal breaker for the stakeholder.

If that could be added to a widh list somewhere, that would be awesome! Thanks for replying!

Hi Carla,

A long time of Studio! When you're ready to get started with Storyline 360 take a look at the tutorials here (you'll find all the 360 tutorials on that page!). A number of new or different features will be at your fingertips - so take it one at a time. 😉

We love to hear ideas like that! Always feel free to share them as a Feature requests here, and let us know about your wish list items.  If you’re wondering what happens when you submit a feature request, here’s our process.
