E-mail quiz results comes up empty for me

Jul 17, 2011

Hi,

I like the option of having quiz results e-mailed to someone at the conclusion of an Articulate training module - but when I try it, Outlook just opens an empty e-mail to the e-mail address I selected when publishing - there's no content at all, let along any quiz results.  Am I missing a step?

Thanks, Sorcha

Hi Sorcha,

If you are having difficulty emailing results, please refer to the following article for your version of Quizmaker:

Some of our customers are successfully sending Quizmaker results via PHP, but this is not a method supported by us. You can learn more here:

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your response, but I'm still having trouble.  Today's troubleshooting efforts have included:

  • Replacing my current version of Articulate Studio '09 with the latest version
  • Adding and modifying various aspects of php and js files

My issue is not getting the e-mail address and subject line into the Outlook e-mail - it's getting the quiz content into the Outlook e-mail.  I'm a little frustrated at this point, I didn't think this part would be so much work. I really need this to work, as I need to be able to hand off this entire module to a client without them having to use a learning management system.  I thought the e-mail results option was a nice quiz tracking workaround, but it has been disappointing.

Hi Sorcha,

Unfortunately, the mailto function that the quizzes use is quickly becoming a technology of the past.  Although we send all of the data the correct way, it's up to the browser to determine how much of that data (if any) will actually be sent.  I highly recommend using a learning management system or getting the PHP workaround to work as it doesn't rely on individual browser settings.
