Edting video with Video Encoder

Dec 07, 2012

We have some long videos that I would like to use small clips of the video to play on a Presenter screen while new voice is heard.  The current video is good to use, but voice is out dated. I am trying to determine if I can use Articulate Video Encoder to edit the video into smaller clips and remove the voice. Can anyone point me to this information?

And/or does anyone have a recommendation of user friendly software to edit video? I have minimum/no budget, so free would be preferred.

If I should have posted this question to a different forum, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your assistance, Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

There are a few ways you can accomplish this. You can either remove the audio from within Video Encoder, or simply mute the audio in PowerPoint.

From within Video Encoder, open the video you'd like to change. After doing so, you can set the volume to "mute". Save the video and load it into Presenter.

Set the volume of a video from within PowerPoint:

  • Under Video Tools, on the Playback tab, in the Video Options group, click Volume, and then choose one of the following:
    • Low
    • Medium
    • High
    • Mute

The original article can be found here.

With this option, you can simply mute the video and then record your new narration audio.

In regards to creating separate clips from the original video, you might want to take a look at these threads for suggestions:
