Embedded videos keeps disappearing from Presenter

Feb 07, 2017

Currently, I am working in a project which contains 11 videos and 200 slides that needs to converted into eLearning using Studio’13/Presenter’13. The slides are created in PowerPoint 2013. I have embed all videos using articulate tab. All video files are converted into MP4 (compressed).
When I embed the videos, they all play while I preview and publish to LMS. However, when I log out and open the project file in presenter’13 the next day my videos have disappeared and no longer play when I preview or published to the project to our LMS. I have tried to re-embed all 11 videos in articulate presenter but it keeps disappearing next day.
Has anyone experience this issue? Please help?

Sorry this is happening, Anu! I know that's frustraing. Are you on the most recent update of Presenter '13 and working off of your local hard drive? Working on a network drive or an external (USB) drive can cause erratic behavior due to latency, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources.

Also, are you able to reproduce this behavior in a new Presenter file, perhaps with different MP4 videos? You'll want to be sure that you're following these steps when adding a video to Presenter.

Give that a try, and let me know how you make out!

Hi there,

I'm experiencing the same issue as well.  I embedded the MP4 files to my slides, published my file to the web, tested the presentation HTML file and it worked. When I returned back to the presentation the next day to add the remaining videos, I published the file and all the videos I had added the day before disappeared.  It's extremely frustrating because I have 140 slides in this PPT. It almost seems like you can't add the video files until you are 100% sure this is the final product and you're willing to work on it start to finish all in the same day. Hoping someone has a fix for this.

Thanks

Hi Alyssa,

I'm using Presenter '13. My presentation file is saved to my local hard drive, however, the video files I embedded into the presentation are saved on a network drive. I can see the video files on the slides (the flash icon), however when I publish, it does not recognize these attached video files. Once published, I open the presentation.html file from the presenter output folder to see if the videos carried over, and they don't.

Hi Ruthya,

It sounds like you're testing the published output locally - have you tried uploading to your web server or LMS to see if you're able to connect to the videos on your server? Testing content locally can cause you to encounter security restrictions with playback of content.

If that still doesn't work, can you look at linking the video files from a local source so that they'll be pulled into your course?
