ERROR during syncing

May 24, 2013

Good day!

I've been attempting to sync my animations for the past couple of days but PowerPoint keeps closing saying it received an error. And every time after I recover the file, there are 3 placeholders stacked on top of my contents.

I am currently using Office 2007 and Presenter '09 v6.3.1303.2214 Pro.

Please advise. Thanks!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, C.O.!

Can you tell us a little more about what's happening please? What is the error message that you're receiving when PowerPoint closes?

Also, please make sure you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you can, please create a new, blank presentation. Attempt to sync some animations in the new file. Does the same thing happen?

Thanks and welcome again!

Hi C.O.,

I'm a little confused - this is the error you receive while trying to sync animations?

Generally this is an error that's received after content has been uploaded to an LMS:

If you receive an "Unable to acquire LMS API" error when launching Articulate content in your LMS, this may be caused by the version of Java that you have installed.

Some LMS’s use a Java API object to load content.  Since content created in Articulate does not require Java, please do the following:

*  Contact your LMS provider and ensure that your installed version of Java is compatible with the version of the LMS you are using.
*  Ensure that you have published your content properly as described in the following article:
http://www.articulate.com/blog/publish-to-lms-with-studio-09/

If this issue persists, make the following modification to your player template, and test your content again:

1)  Open your presentation in PowerPoint.

2)  Go to Articulate > Player Templates.
3)  Select the "Other" tab.
4)  Deselect (uncheck) "Launch presentation in new window".
5)  Close the Player Template manager, and save the change when prompted.
6)  Publish your presentation for LMS using the newly saved player template, and test the content in your LMS.

Hi C.O. I hope you had a great weekend :)

No problem! Was just a little confused about the other error - if you're experiencing that as well, it may be a good idea to go ahead and follow those steps I listed earlier.

For the PowerPoint error, can you confirm you're using the 32-bit installation of Office 2007?

If you are using the 32-bit installation, you may want to try following the steps outlined in the following article:

Unexpected or erratic behavior in Articulate Studio '09

Let me know if you see any improvement.

Thanks!

Hi C.O.,

Oh, shoot, sorry to hear that!

I totally agree, you shouldn't need to keep reinstalling. It might be best to go ahead and contact our support team for this. Hopefully, they'll be able to figure out why this is happening and why it starts again after fixing it with a reinstall.
