error message about ribbon ad-in and now things are slow. Ideas??

Mar 01, 2012

Of course, I owe my client training modules today and I'm experiencing major technical difficulties.  Got a weird error message last night when I tried to preview three slides...wouldn't do it and gave me an error message about a ribbon ad-in.

Today things are just running slow.  For example, I select audio to delete and it takes several minutes for Articulate to make the deletion.

Am I on the verge of a technical meltdown?  What could this be a sign of?  I have work to finish today and files that I need to deliver, but at this rate, I'll never finish.  Do I need to reinstall the updates?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.  Getting very nervous and frustrated...

Hi Kellie!

Does this error message look familiar?:

PowerPoint experienced a serious problem with the ‘articulate presenter ribbon’ add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?

Disable Articulate Presenter Ribbon?

PowerPoint may attempt to disable add-ins, such as Articulate Presenter, after it experiences a crash or otherwise closes unexpectedly.  If this is the first time you have encountered this message, simply click the No button, and proceed with your project development.

Be sure that your presentations, quizzes, interactions, and audio / video resources are located on your local hard drive (this is typically your C: drive).  Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior.

Thanks!  That's the message.  And since then, things have been running so slowly.  Particularly when editing the audio.  Deleting small portions of audio...the delete button turns orange and seems to freeze in place, taking a considerable amount of time to make the change.  Same with adding in silence...takes forever.  I've never had it run so slow.  Would the error message relate to these problems in any way?

Thanks.  I had our IT person re-install the updates to Studio, thinking that could help...we'll see....

Hi Kellie,

Sorry about the frustration. Would you mind sending us your files so we can take a closer look at what might be going on? Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!

Hi,

I am having the same problem with the Audio Editor taking quite a few minutes to do ANYTHING. Saving from the Audio Editor has taken about 10 minutes, deleting and adding silence takes at least 3 minutes.

It has been a while since I saw the ribbon add-in error, so I'm not sure it has to do with that.

Have you discovered what the problem might be??

Thanks,

Cookie
