Error Message: "Navigation to web page canceled"

Oct 30, 2012

Hello all,

I have a course that has hyperlinks to PDFs. When I publish it to web the hyperlinks do not work. The Articulate fix is to publish for CD and run the exe.

When I upload the files to our webserver and launch the exe I get two "do you want to run/save" messages. I say run to both. That's normal.

But then I get an error in an Articulate window that says the "Navigation to web page canceled".

I have to get 4 courses out by the end of today. HELP!

Here's the screen shot of the error.

Good Morning, Holly.

One of the most useful pointers for testing your published content is to be certain that you are performing your testing in its intended environment.

For example, if you are publishing for Web, you would need to upload the published contents to your web server for accurate testing.  If you want to test your content locally, you will need to publish for CD, then use the Launch_Presentation.exe file to launch your presentation.

It sounds like perhaps you published for CD, then uploaded the published content to your web server, which will not work.  I'd recommend publishing for Web and uploading to your web server.

Please let us know if you continue to have trouble.  Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response, Holly.

Can you reference where we have recommended that for Sharepoint, you should publish to CD and run the EXE file?  It's hard to imagine how an EXE would function successfully from a web browser, but I've stumbled across a few other tips that might help you:

Please let us know if you need anything else.  Thanks!

Good Morning Fiona, and welcome to Heroes!

After you've published a Presentation for CD, you must copy all of the published output to your removable media.  Presenter does not support publishing to a single file, so your published output will not work with only the .exe file.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and have a great day!
