Error-message when running from a remote desktop
Jan 09, 2013
I am using remote desktop (MSTSC) to access Articulate Presenter in another PC (which is more powerful). This solution works fine for me until I try to edit sound in presentation by using "Audio Editor". After the Audio Editor window is opened, ehenever I move my mouse to the "Ribbon" (menu for Audio Editor), a error message will appear
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue...........
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
"
This error disppear if I use the PC directly.
Do anyone know how this problem can be solved?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Hi Patrick. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with this. However, it is best to work with local files. Working from any external sources, including remote desktops may cause problems.
Here's some additional information:
If you are experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.
1. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
3. Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
Let us know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Christine
