file can't upgraded

Aug 24, 2015

When opening a file and selecting Slide Properties, I got the error message attached below telling me I can't upgrade the file to Studio 13 version. What does this mean and what should I do about it? Am working off local C: drive.

Thanks for the update Jim. Let's try a different approach.

Are you actually upgrading a project from '09 to '13?

Do you have the latest update to Presenter '13, which is Update 6? If not, please download via that hyperlink shared, but if so please conduct a repair of your software to see if this alleviates your issue.

I also wanted to mention that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature, but you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.

Am having another odd issue. I am adding/editing audio in a file, but the slides keep jumping around in the presentation, and the audio doesn't seem to "take" and save like it i supposed to when going back and forth between the Audio Editor and the Record Narration modules.Regarding this I noticed that the ppt generated not one but two .ppta files when I did my most recent Save As... and the time of revision doesn't match either. Screen shot attached below from my hard drive, from which I'm wrorking.

Was there a resolution to this problem?  It is occurring with me now.

I need help.

I have made several presentations using PowerPoint with the Articulate plug-in.  I have recorded audio for each using the Record Narration selection.  When I clicked on it for my current new presentation, I received an error.

"Your Articulate Presenter project cannot be upgraded to the new Articulate Presenter '13 file format"

After the error I cannot open to record narration.  The Presenter recording will not begin.

Anyone faced this and have a resolution?

Thanks,

Don L

Hi Don! I did a bit more digging since this has been reported more than once recently.

You may see the following error message after installing Update 3 for Articulate Presenter '13:

"Your Articulate Presenter project cannot be upgraded to the new Articulate Presenter '13 file format."

This issue was fixed in Update 4 for Presenter.

Please be sure you are utilizing the latest update, which is now Update 6.

I have requested support from my local IT resource to run Update 6 and will notify back here of the result. Not that I wish mal on anyone, but I am glad I'm not the only one experiencing this particular problem. Funny how this is surfacing now, as I've stayed current on the updates over the years and months as they have been released.

Leslie,

I am using Update 6, it is the only one I've used.

I may have figured out part of it. The PowerPoint template I used for this presentation was created from an older version of PowerPoint, where the .pptx file was not yet available. I was able to copy and paste the content in to a .pptx file that would work, to continue so I am able to meet my deadline.

I'd still like to see a resolution to this though.

Thanks,
Don L.

Hi Don,

Just an FYI that responding via email includes your signature here - so you are welcome to visit this thread and edit to remove the signature if you wish (no need to on our part!). Are you able to share that particular template with us? I know some other users with older templates (from Office 2007 for example) have experience difficulty using those in later versions of Powerpoint based on different features and set ups.

Jim, please keep us posted on how things are behaving after update 6 is installed.

Thanks Don, I didnt have any problem opening that, upgrading it to the .pptx file and then recording audio in Presenter. I attached a copy of the Presenter package - so please let me know if you're able to open that. But since it worked normally I wouldn't suspect it's the template...did you already confirm you're working on local project files and not moving the .pptx file out of the same folder where the .ppta file is stored?
