"File not found" erro

May 01, 2014

Good afternoon all.

Here yet another issue I cannot seem to be able to resolve by myself. Considering the error message is real simple and doesn't provide an error code or an indication as to which file is missing, you would think the solution would be just as simple. The screenshot below show an error message arising when publishing my file. It is getting stuck at a Quiz...

Not knowing where to start, I opened all three quizzes from this presentation and remove/re-inserted all pictures. Then I tried to republish the presentation and this "useless" error message keep popping up! I've removed all the quizzes from inside Articulate and reinserted all of them back to no avail. All the files are in the right folder. I have 14 modules and there are two modules that will not publish properly as such.

Can anyone provide a hint as to where to look for the problem ?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Patrick!

Sounds like you are looking in the right places and 12/14 successful counts for something as well

Not sure if you have some corruption in these files. You could try the following:

  1. Open a new, blank presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Go to the Home tab, click the drop-down arrow beside New Slide, and choose Reuse Slides.
  3. In the Reuse Slides panel, click the Browse button and choose Browse File.
  4. Browse to your original PowerPoint file and click Open.
  5. At the bottom of the Reuse Slides panel, mark the box to Keep source formatting.
  6. Right-click the first slide in the Reuse Slides panel and select Insert All Slides.
  7. Save the new presentation and republish.

Note: Articulate resources, such as audio and video, will need to be inserted again into the new presentation. You may need to export the narration from your original presentation, then import it into the new presentation.

Hi Leslie, thank you for the response!

We've discussed the suggestions you've made and it was determined that it was too time consuming this time around. We are on a production timeline to convert a series of training manuals published in Articulate '09 to version '13. We are already behind schedule having had some major hurdles along the way.

Ideally, if this type of error message would provide "more information" to help us troubleshoot such issues when it arises, then we could remain productive without too much of a penalty. Fr now, we'll pile this one on top of the list of imponderable-no-quick-way-out list of issues.

Any other thoughts as to why Articulate would send a "File not found" error message?

Thank you again!

Patrick
