Files on line different than on my computer

Dec 17, 2013

I have articulated approx. 120 different pp presentations saved them as zip files and uploaded them to a secure elearning site.  Most of them are working great.  If there is a problem we rerecord and reupload, problem fixed.  I have 3 or 4 programs however that when viewed on the articulated pp on my computer play a different audio file than the one on the uploaded zip file.  Help

Hi Bill and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I'm having a little trouble understanding how you're viewing the projects when the audio files don't play properly. Does this happen when you're previewing the presentation inside PowerPoint and Presenter?

If so, first, please make sure you're extracting the files if they're inside a ZIP file. Also, please make sure you're opening a project that's on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Let me know if you're already working with extracted and local project files, and still running into trouble with the audio.

Thanks!

Let me restate, I have over 50 programs that I have articulated, saved as zip files, and uploaded to a secure site.  No problems with any of them but 5 to start with.  2 of those 5 I have been able to correct.  the last 3 I have tried to rearticulate and reupload several times.  I can play the powerpoint on my computer and everything is great.  If I go to the secure website and launch the program from any computer including mine, the audio does not go with the slides and is not the audio that is on the original PP that is on my C drive that was originally articulated.

Hi Bill,

Thank you very much for the clarification.

For the projects that don't play the audio properly, have you viewed them in the same browser multiple times? If so, it may be a simple caching issue. Have you tried clearing your web browser cache or tried viewing them in a different web browser?

If that doesn't help, are you able to share one of the projects that isn't working properly? You'll want to create a Presenter Package and attach the package to this thread. Please keep in mind that if the file is too large, you may not be able to attach it here. In that case, you're welcome to send it to me, or you can send it over to our support team for testing.

Here's how to create a Presenter Package:

Thanks, Bill!
