Fixing or adding annotations to a slide that already has some

May 27, 2011

Is there a way to correct or add annotations to a slide that already has annotations present?  I'm trying to work through adding several annotations to slides, and sometimes I either miss and click at the wrong spot or in the wrong place, or decide I want to use a different effect.  Can I tweak the wayward annotation without having to redo the 10 that are on the slide before it?

Hi there Hallie,

Currently, there's not a way to fine-tune the annotations once they're on the slide - to change them, you'll need to redo all the annotations on the whole slide. However, here are a couple of tips that might help reduce the number of retakes.

  • I like to make frequent use of the Pause button while annotating. Especially if I have to change annotations mid-way through a slide. If you pause while annotating, you can take your time switching to a different annotation. And you can even test out your annotation shape/size/animation/etc while you're paused - just click on the paused slide to see what the annotation will look like. Annotations you insert while the slide is paused won't actually get retained, if you clear them out before resuming. Just hit the Clear All button to get rid of whatever annotations are on your slide before you resume annotating.
  • Regarding placement of annotations, one trick that can help is to make a cross-hair on your slide so that you have a very precise target for where you plan to apply an annotation. You can get rid of the crosshair after you're done annotating. Here's what I mean: https://player.vimeo.com/video/148910053

Hope that helps!
