Getting notes to show up in the right format with Studio 13

Jan 21, 2014

Hi,

I am converting files from Studio 09 to Studio 13 and for one file in particular, although the Notes pages were showing up in the proper format when published with 09, they are showing up right-justified when I publish with 13. The other files I have worked with convert fine, but this particular one is being stubborn. I made sure that my settings in Power Point for the Notes pages were correct and they are, so I am at a loss.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I can try?

Thanks,

Lucie

Hi Leslie,

Thanks for your response, but I had already tried all of that before posting my question. My format is correct in the Notes section in Power Point when I look at the Normal view and the Notes Page view. Up to now I have converted 3 files and two out of 3 are working fine so I am stumped as to why the third one is not working.

Do you have any other suggestions on what I could try?

Thanks,

Lucie

Hi Lucie!

Perhaps it's just this file then. Try starting with a new file to see if this helps.

  1. Open a blank presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Save the presentation.
  3. Click the Home tab.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow beside New Slide and select Reuse Slides.
  5. Click the Browse button and select Browse File.
  6. Locate your original PowerPoint file and click the Open button.
  7. At the bottom of the Reuse Slides panel, select the Keep source formatting check box.
  8. Right click the first slide in the Reuse Slides panel and select Insert All Slides.
  9. Save the new presentation and republish.

Note:  Resources, such as audio and video, that you inserted via Articulate Presenter into the original presentation will need to be inserted again into the new presentation.  You may need to export the narration from your original presentation.  Then import it into the new presentation.

Let me know your results.

Hi Leslie,

I followed the procedure you suggested and that did work. I had to export and import my audio back into the new file, but the notes tab is ok now.

At least I will know what to do if it happens again, though I am hoping it is just a in-frequent glitch because it is very time-consuming to do these conversions.

Thanks for your help.

There seems to be no easy solution to this issue.  Hopefully, this will be fixed in a future patch in the software.

Actually, all of the Notes text becomes centered, which cannot be rectified by anything that I have tried.

Also, the bullet character disappears when the bullet is linked to the Notes master.  Seems that if you create bullets that are not associated with the notes master, they usually show up in the published notes window.

Yes, the notes functionality needs some work before I will be able to convert any courses.  Hopefully, this will be fixed in a future release.
