Having Audio Follow the Slide

Sep 16, 2011

I have a question about essentially the same issue but illustrated in two different scenarios.

In scenario 1, I have two presentations — we'll call them A and B. I want to copy a slide from A to B.  I've added video and audio to the A presentation already. When I copy the slide from A to B, the audio I attached while it was in A doesn't follow over to B.

In scenario 2, I have one presentation. I want to copy a slide (let's call it slide 2) to different points in the same presentation.  When I copy slide 2, the video clip I inserted and the branching properties I assigned copy with it but the audio I assigned does not.

Here's my question, in both scenarios, is there a way to keep the audio linked to that slide so that when I copy it from presentation to presentation or within the single presentation, the linked audio copies with it?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the clarification.

In your first scenario, the audio is saved in the PPTA file and not the slide itself.  Thus, when you copy and paste the slide into a new presentation, the audio will not copy over.  You'll need to reimport the audio into your new presentation.  Here's a screencast explaining how the PPTA file works with your presentation:

In your second scenario, we'll copy everything over including the audio.  However, the audio won't show up in the Audio Editor until you actually publish the presentation.  The reason for this is because a full publish allows the PPTA file to regenerate itself.
