HELP! MY ENGAGE INTERACTIONS HAVE BEEN OVERWRITTEN IN PRESENTER!
Jul 03, 2012
I am hoping someone can assist me in fixing this catastrophe as i had just finished a project for a client when all hell broke loose. This is what happened (sorry if its confusing)
I had created "Project A" in Presenter with a bunch of engage interactions. I then "saved as" the Presenter file into another name, "Project B", to design different content utilizing the same engage themes as "Project A".
Upon completing the new modules in Project B and closing the file, I then opened Project A to do some last minute tweaks only to find that all my data was gone and had been replaced with Project B's content! WHAT THE? And the strange thing is, in Project A, the cover slides in Presenter reflect what it should, but when i Edit in Engage i am presented with Project B's content. HELP PLEASE! Can this be reversed or is there a way i can import the data from the Project A Published folder back into presenter/engage? I am assuming that even though i "saved as" a new Presenter file name, the engage interaction within it did not save as/duplicate. Does this make any sense to anyone?

Hi Kiri
You have found one of the most annoying things about reusing a presenter project. If you leave the engage content in place and then edit it, it overwrites the previous interaction because in fact the link is to the previous interaction.
There is no way to save the old interactions unless you have a backup. In the future if you duplicate a project I would delete all the engage interactions. You can reuse engage interactions but I would always copy them first in explorer and then insert the copied version

Hey Phil,
Thanks so much for your prompt reply. What if i have Published my content to web and have the raw data in that published folder, is there any way to bring that back into engage/presenter or an interaction?
Thanks!
The simple answer is no. In the published file you do have the data.xml (for each engage) file which holds all you content for eaxh engage interaction. It would be much easier to rebuild as this is all formatted and would need a lot of work to extract
