Help! Passing scores not going to LMS as passing scores

Mar 12, 2013

I see some other's have had similar issues, but none of the solutions offered have worked for me so I wondered if there are any others. I created a course using Presenter '09 and Quizmaker, with a 90% passing score and it's being reported through AICC as passed/failed.

However, everyone is being marked as Not Qualified in the LMS unless they get 100%. Is there anything I can do with the Articulate settings on my end to fix this?  Here are some screen shots of how I built the course and the end results when I achieve a 90% passing score...

Quiz settings:

 AICC settings:

 Proof I passed!

But the LMS says I failed:

Any ideas?

Hi Aubrey,

Can you try and replicate this behavior at SCORM Cloud and let us know if it occurs there, too? That will help us determine whether the issue is Articulate-related, or coming from your LMS's end. To test AICC content at SCORM Cloud, you'll need to modify the Filename(URL) field when you publish your Articulate content, and upload the published output to an external server. Here's how.

Eager to hear what you find...

Thanks, Aubrey!

Hi Aubrey,

You can definitely send in your project files and we'd be happy to test it on our end.

First, create an Articulate Presenter Package of your presentation as described here. Then upload the resulting zip file from your computer on the second page of this form, and we''ll attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your upload.

Thanks!

OK, I fixed the passing score issue. That was my own fault - I didn't set the 90% passing score on the LMS end!

Now I have a new issue. For most people everything goes through fine: They pass the quiz, return to the LMS, and sign off. However, some people pass the quiz, return to the LMS and it reports them as Incomplete as if they never completed the course. Any ideas why this would sporadically be happening? The LMS folks are saying it's the course, but I don't know what I could have done that would cause it to work for some, but not others.

Could it be that if the user doesn't pass the first time, it won't report their score the next time? I have it set for unlimited attempts:

I can't post this course to the Cloud and I don't have time to mock up a dummy course, but I could email it to someone at Articulate if that would help.

What ever came out of this case may I ask?  We are currently having a similar issue... One of our client's has a course that is set to a 90% passing rate.  If they score a 100%, the course will move to complete in our LMS.... If they score anything between a 90 and 99%, it is not recognizing the score, and not moving them to a Complete status.  We have talked to SCORM Cloud... They have the scores registered.. so they can see what the user scored... but for some reason, it it not getting communicated back to our LMS.

Hi Stefanie!

I popped in to take a look at the case that Aubrey shared above. It looks like they were unable to replicate in SCORM Cloud, the problem was intermittent, and it was only happening within their LMS.

Sounds like you are unable to replicate as well. Have you reached out to your LMS team to see if they can assist?

By default, LMS debug mode is disabled in Articulate Storyline content, but you can enable it for troubleshooting purposes, and share the resulting Debug Log with your LMS provider. Here's how.
