HELP ! powerpoint hangs as soon as I try anything 'articulate'

Feb 11, 2013

Uggh! I don't like Articulate today ;-(

While in my ppt presentation, the presentation just started hanging.  Eventually I used task manager to close it out.  When re-entering PPT, it gave me a message that a serious problemm occured w/ an add-on (articulate), and if this problem re-occurs, I should disable the add on.

I've seen this erroro many times before, but after getting out of ppt, doing a reboot, etc., I was always able to get back in.

No  luck this time - whenever I get into ppt & click on the Articulate tab, everything just hangs, and I can only get out of ppt by using task manager.

Thus far I have:

-disabled add ons

-rebooted

-enabled add ons (Articulate add ons, that is)

Gone to yesterdays' backup of the presentation & tried all the above.

All to no avail.

At this point I am about to re-install Articulate, & if that doesn't work , then re-install Office.

Any light you anyone can shed on this would be appreciated.  I have a quickly approaching deadline!

Many thanks!

-Carol

Hi Carol!

So sorry to hear your morning started off this way! Hopefully we can get this working properly for you quickly, so the rest of your day will be a little better

First, can you confirm you're using the 32-bit installation of Office? Microsoft released a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of Office 2010. Microsoft recommends installing the 32-bit version, and Articulate Presenter '09 will only work with the 32-bit version. Presenter '09 also will not work with the Click To Run version of PowerPoint 2010. For more information, please review this article.

If you've confirmed that you're using the 32-bit version of Office, or if you've made the changes in the article above and still run into this issue, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in this support article

Let me know if this fixes the problem.

Thanks!

I just upgraded to from Studio '09 to '13.  Everything was working fine in '09, but now if I do anything Articulate, PowerPoint becomes unresponsive upon return.  All I can do is close it through a Ctrl-w, Alt-F4, or the Task Manager -- it will ask me if I want to save the file before closing, thankfully.  I'm running Windows 7 with Office Professional 2010, 32 bit.  I've tried doing a re-install on Articulate and I do not relish a re-install of Office as I also have the entire Adobe Master Collection which I'll have to probably mess with as well.  Is there any other known solution?
