HELP!!!!! Video files freeze in LMS.

Sep 15, 2011

I am creating a number of presentations for an LMS. Most of the files I am creating are packed full of videos that I encode in flash at 1000mbps. The full articulate files are around  260MB a piece. I zip and upload and everything works fine. When people log in to take the classes they are getting lots of freezing of the videos. Is 260MB too large? Should I be doing something different? I tested them all through a 30MBPS download speed (My first mistake).

Do I need to break these down to a smaller file size? Help!!!

Hi Ken,

Since Articulate doesn't pre-load imported media like SWF, FLV, and MP4 files, your end-users will have to start downloading or streaming the file when they hit the slide that contains the media.  Thus, if your end-users have a slow connection, the video may be slow to start or "freeze" (waiting to download).  I'd recommend reducing your video files or splitting them up across multiple slides.

Oh dang.... just read another post you did which discusses the time frame of the video, and if the video freezes it moves it to the next one. This is horrible! I have created 8 hours worth of training and I am basically starting over. This has been a total nightmare.

Hi Ken,

I'm not sure what post you read.  However, I've never seen the Articulate player move onto the next slide if the end-user has a slow connection.
