Hide Level 2 slides from Navigation

Oct 07, 2011

Is there a way to hide the level 2 slides from appearing in the navigation bar during a presentation? I see the option to have them only show when the user clicks but I would prefer them to not appear at all.

Hi Jessica! Yep, you can go to Slide Properties and select the individual slides you want to hide. When the Slide Properties manager appears, just right-click the slide title and choose Hide In Navigation Panel. Here's a tutorial that shows the steps: http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/hiding-a-slide-from-appearing-in-the-outline-tab.aspx

Hi -

I have a follow-up question to this.  When I hide a level two slide in the navigation, it wreaks havoc with my whole navigation structure.  For example, if my Navigation is :

1

1

   2

   2

   2

1

If I hide the middle level two, the third only gives me a number 1 in the Level dropdown.  I think I've resolved this in that I can create the structure then indicate which slides are hidden.

The bigger problem is that when I hide a slide at the second level, none of the slides on the second level that come after that slide will display.  So again an example:

1

   2

   2 (hidden)

   2

1

The last level two slide won't appear in my Navigation panel, even though it isn't hidden itself.

Is there a step I'm missing?

Hey Elizabeth, welcome to Heroes. Yeah, sometimes the Level feature can be a little tricky.

Regarding the issue with that hidden slide causing the slide after it to be hidden too.... I tried to duplicate that problem, and wasn't able to do that. So I'm wondering: could you check the hidden slide to make sure it's really a Level 2? (i.e., unhide it and see what level it is). I'm wondering if it might actually be a Level 1. That would explain the issue with the final Level 2 slide not appearing - because by design, if a slide is hidden, then any slide that follows it will also be hidden if it's a level deeper than the hidden slide.

Elizabeth, as Jeanette says if you want to set levels you need to really unhide your slides then set the levels and then hide the slide, but if you hide a level 1 slide and then have a level 2 slide after it it then you would expect it to be hidden.

Sorr if that repeats what you said Jeanette, I find it impossible to do hidden slides and levels at the same time so unhide everything and set my levels, then set the hidden slides, not sure if its the best way but it works without any problems
