There's not really an "optimum" setting that you can use for every single file. I'd recommend utilizing the settings in "movie dimensions" and play with them until you get the file size and quality that you need. For more information, see the link below:
Hi Gilles - for future projects, maybe the tips in this tutorial would help. If you scroll down a bit, you'll see a section called "Tips for Choosing Movie Dimensions" and another called "Tips for Customizing Your Publish Settings."
Are there any cameras that are NOT compatible with Video encoder? Is there any that is recommended? We need to purchase one and don't want to go wrong with the choice. can anybody help me?

Hi Gilles!
There isn't a forum dedicated to Video Encoder, so you can post your Video Encoder question here (Presenter) or one of the others.
Great! Here goes...
I have an mp4 which I need to convert to flv for inclusion on a web site (not using YOUtube). It's about 4 minutes long.
I was able to create an flv but it's 17MB... quite large.
What are the best settings to use to have good quality while conserving file size? Any tips on rendering?
Cheers,
Gilles

Thanks Brian,
I had come across this info but it's not very helpful. It seems to be stating what is evident. ie.
This is simply telling me the choices I have, which is evident in the publish window. I was looking for an explanation.
It would have taken a long time to "play" by rendering and re-rendering a 5 minute video and didn't have the luxury of this time.
No worries, I ended up using another method.
Cheers,
Gilles

Hi Maivette and welcome to Heroes,
I'm not aware of any issues with specific cameras.
