How to embed a Captivate 6 software demo into Articulate Studio PP

Jan 17, 2013

Hey everyone,

I feel like I have published and re-published my Captivate 6 software demo from here till Sunday, and while, when I embed as a Web Object, I can test the file and it works in that tiny preview tile on the Isert Web Oject screen, when I publish, then Launch the presentaiton, I get a blue screen with some nav buttons strangely placed, and the "snow static sounds" from ages old TV after midnight.  Audio and images don't play, just a plain screen with a blnking "Abobe Captivate 6" window that flashes in time with the static noise.

Can anyone help me figure out what configuration I need to change?  I have published as .exe, SWF and HTML5, and none have worked so far.

Thanks bunches for anyone with the magic wand

Ann

Hi Ann!

Are you following the steps in this article when inserting the Captivate file?

The very first section should cover Captivate 5 and higher. You might want to double-check the steps, just in case.

Also, make sure that the files are local when you're adding them. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate). Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

When you're viewing your published content, it's a little different. You'll want to make sure you're viewing the content in the environment for which its intended. This is very important for web objects, so this may have something to do with the issue, too. To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review this article for details.

If the issue continues, please let me know.

Thanks!

Well, isn't that interesting, of all things, I was publishing from my Mac to a USB and importing the Captivate files on a PC direct from my USB drive.  Let me give this a whirl - I thought I was going crazy as I was able to seamlessly import other Captivate files (of course, those were all local).

Tank you so very much for this cousel - I will circle back and confirm once I am all GTG.

Take care and thanks again!

Ann
