I have added an SWF video to the Resources tab in the Articulate Presenter course and uploaded the course on LMS. I thought that when learners click on the video link in the Resources tab, they will be able to view the video in a new tab . However, in LMS , when clicked on the video link in the Resource tab, the video starts downloading.
Can anyone please advice why this is happening and how to stop the downloading of video?
If you're opening a URL, that would prompt in to open in a new tab/window but if it's a file it may download based on the file type and the browser settings the user has set up.
Presenter doesn't have a option to force one option or another within the resource tab, so you could look at hosting the video content on a site such as Vimeo or Youtube and providing a link to that.
I have linked SWF video file that is saved on my computer. When I view the published output on my computer, the link prompts in to open in a new tab/. However, when I upload the SCORM course into LMS, the video starts to download.
The latter is what I'd expect once it's been uploaded to it's final destination (the LMS in this scenario).
While it's being viewed on your local computer it's still able to point to the location in the published folder on your local drive and that'll open links in the browser. This is based on the connection to the HTML files that you're viewing.
You had correctly mentioned that, the browser settings the user has set up play important role. I requested my teammate to view the course on his machine and he was able to view the video in a new tab. It worked out well for him.

Hi Steffi,
Are you linking to a file or to a site?
