HTML5 Publishing Issues

Mar 08, 2016

Hi E-Learning Heroes,

I am having issues when I publish to HTML5. I am uploading my published presentation to an LMS and setting the main file to HTML5. When I open it I can hear the audio but there is no visual content. I tried viewing in it in different browsers but I am experiencing the same problem. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Lisa,

Which file are you pointing to within your LMS? Have you confirmed that you're using a supported HTML5 browser here? Also have you tried pointing to the main flash file and allowing Presenter to show the content based on how the user is accessing it and from what device? You could also look at testing in SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing LMS content.

Hi Lisa,

What occurs when you access the index_lms.html on your mobile devices? What devices have you tested on? I'm happy to test as well if you'd like to share a link to the course hosted in your LMS or a copy of your Presenter package here so I could test uploading as well? I know linking to the HTML5 output file can be a bit hidden in the LMS publish - so I would recommend using the file mentioned above and then let Presenter determine which output to show based on how the user is accessing it. That's described further at the bottom of this article.

Hi Ashley,

I typically publish Articulate presentations for the web and then upload them to Moodle as a file and point to the HTML or HTML5 for mobile devices. This has worked for me in the past but now when I do this I can only view the HTML files on my desktop. I tested HTML5 files on my iphone and ipad and I can view the player and menu but only get the audio from the presentation. Since you mentioned the LMS, I also uploaded it that way and  tried pointing it to the index_LMS.html and get an error message (see attached) and only audio. I also tried uploading it as a SCORM package with the same results. Unfortunately our LMS requires that you have an account so I am sending you my presenter package here. Thanks for you help!

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for sharing that error message here. When I've seen it before it's been connected to the launching of the player in a new window, and a Javascript error within the LMS as detailed in this thread.

Also, if you're hosting in Moodle, I would look at ensuring you've published for LMS vs. publish for web and confirm which settings you should use in terms of Scorm, Tin Can, launch in a new window, etc. with your Moodle administrator.

It does not seem that the Presenter package was attached here, so perhaps you'll be able to attach it again after checking into the elements I mentioned above.

Hi Ashley,

I have tried publishing the presentation for an LMS and for the web. I tried uploading them both to Moodle in as a SCORM Package and a file an had the same result both times only audio, no visuals. I also published it for the web and uploaded it to google drive: http://googledrive.com/host/0Byh7Vg2iVSmCSkVIWjdwU3lYdDA  and am seeing the same behavior on the desktop and mobile devices. Please see both presenter packages attached. Let me know if I can provide any additional info, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for providing your published output and your Google Drive link. I tested on my end in SCORM cloud and am seeing the same results as you on my iPhone and iPad, as well as seeing it on my desktop in google drive. I went ahead and created a support ticket for you (#00751382) and escalated it to our Support Engineers for further investigation. They'll be reaching out to you through email shortly. I will be sure to follow along with the progress made on your case, and will share relevant updates here in the thread for others who may benefit. :)
