Hyperlink format for linking multiple Articulate presentations
Jul 29, 2011
Hello all,
I'm trying to attempt something that is a bit beyond my technical skills but hey, that's you learn and grow. I need to create a course that I'm going to break up into a series of small chunks. Users will be able to take one module, the LMS will record that module as having been completed and when the user has more time they can continue with other modules and their leisure. When the learner has completed the final module they will receive credit for entire course.
I'm starting small as I learn how to achieve what I want. I have a screen where users can select the module they want to view. I'm creating my links based on what I'm expecting the published files to be. My directory structure is as follows:
C:\IF_elearning\
\1-Course_Introduction
\2-Reporting_Overview
I create a link in my PPT file to a the published location for course two. The link works fine in PPT but when I publish I get an error that says it can't find the specified file. this is the link I use: ..\IF_elearning\2-Reporting_Overview\player.html
I've attached my original files plus the published files in two seperate zip files which I've then zipped together. any help would be greatly appreciated. Once I solve this technical problem I plan on using Reload Editor since I'm not sure I can get anyone at my company to spring for the 99 bucks it would take to purchase Simple Scorm Packager and I've used up my free trial period.

Hi Jesse,
Did you try the solution in the link below?

Hi Jesse
this might help http://www.mozealous.com/repackaging-articulate-content-to-allow-multiple-scos/

Hey Phil,
Have you used this method before? One quick idea came to mind, if I create one 'course' that basically is just a menu where the user can chose what module they want to complete....when they pick and finish the module, they re-launch the 'menu course'.
What are your thoughts on that? Is that something like you want to do Jesse?
Adios,
Dave
Hi Dave
that should work great using the multi sco approach shouldnt be that difficult
Phil
Hey Phil,
I like the idea of this for some of my current courses, but need to make sure it works with Moodle 2.0 and that it tracks properly.
I need to set aside some time to figure this one out!
Cheers,
Dave
we cant even get scorms to work with moodle 2 at the moment, it is stopping us upgrading
Bummer....mine seem to work fine.
If it matters, we use Remote Learner. Is it a hosting issue?
We are using v2.0.3 at the moment.
Thanks Phil!

Not sure, we have a test system setup at the moment and everything hangs when we try scorms!
We use ULCC and we were hoping to get things sorted, I am not sure why, I am off next week so I can forget about it, I had a feeling we wold have a problem though
The only freezing issue I'm aware of for the latest 2.0 stable is related to new windows and IE 7 - http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-28295
If that doesn't help and ULCC can't track it down, get them to drop me an e-mail with details so I can take a look.
Thanks Dan, it happens with IE 8/9 and firefox I havent spent that much time testing, and thinking about it I wonder if the swf filter has been enabled on the test site
I will get them to get in touch with you if we dont sort it
Thanks again
Phil
Thank you all for all the great answers. I think I have enough to go one for now.
Thanks everyone for your great responses. I think I have enough to begin working on this. Phil, your idea is exactly what I need. At least I think it is. Sometimes a solution seems perfect until you get into the nitty gritty of the project but it gives me the perfect place to start. I also like the idea of using Manifest Maker for Dreamweaver as an alternative. Do you know if SCORM Packager from Captivate would also work? Has anyone tried that? I'll keep everyone posted on the progress that I make on this. Thanks again.
Jesse
Ok, I've run into my next problem. The idea of using a menu structure to link to other courses won't work (i should have realized it wouldn't) becuase creating links between modules was what prompted this post in the first place. The idea of using a web object won't work becuase I want users to be able to pick the module they want to view. Web object doesn't seem to give you that option. I've tried creating a button in Flash that when clicked will take you to the module you want and I'm getting a similar error. I've attached my .fla file for review. I think I'm heading down the right path it's just a matter of figuring out all the pieces.
