Hyperlink to files to download

Mar 23, 2011

Seems like I've seen information about how to do this but can't find it now. This seems like it should be a fairly basic thing to do but I'm having trouble with providing a link to a downloadable file such as a transcript of a video I have embedded. I don't want it to be on the attachments tab but instead just want to put a link on the slide. I can create a hyperlink in PPT to link to an "existing file or web page" but that doesn't seem to work when published to Presenter.

Thoughts???

Hi Donna

We've started using Box.net - they have various packages available including a free one.

Nice and clean in terms of managing files within a structure (multiple folders, easy to find your way around, etc).  Plus it looks good to the learner because they can preview and download without any other distractions.  And you get a message every time a file is previewed.

Thanks, Simon. It looks like this is probably something like Dropbox which I have. So, your suggestion gave me the idea of putting the file I want the learner to download in my public dropbox and then I included the link to the public file as a PPT link. Happily, this seems to work once I've published the Presenter version and uploaded onto my server. Thanks for the information that led me to a solution!
