Hyperlink to website AND advance to next slide

Oct 18, 2016

I am trying to create a simple course in powerpoint. On the next to the last slide, I want the learner to go to a website and create a user profile at the site. Once, they have done that, I want them to come back to the next slide in powerpoint titled Next Steps. Then, they will have completed the course.

My problem is, when they come back to powerpoint (they close the browser window they went off to in order to create their user profile) they are still on the same slide where they are instructed to click the hyperlink to the website. I want them to be on the next slide.

Basically, I want two things to happen when they click the hyperlink.

First, go off to a website. Second, move to the next slide. So, when they return tot he course they see the "Next Steps" slide.

I know I can do this easily in Storyline by adding two triggers to the object they are clicking on.

Any suggestions?

Hello Diane, it can be done in Presenter by using a combination of an on-click hyperlink and a mouse-over action. I've attached a Presenter Package with the source files; I wrote instructions and an explanation on the PPT screens. I hope this helps; let me know if the explanation needs to be better ...

Here's how it plays:

Thank you Dave,

It took me a few minutes to figure out how you were launching the website from the button on the duplicate slide since they were only clicking on the button on the previous slide. I never actually saw the duplicate slide. Then, I figured out you launched the website on the "Mouse over" not the click.

As I mentioned earlier, I decided to just move this over to Storyline and use two triggers. But, next time I will try your little trick.

It's nice to be able to keep things in PowerPoint when those that need to review and update a training each year only have PowerPoint.
