Hyperlinking to an Interaction?

Dec 05, 2013

I just spent many hours trying to work out why hyperlinks in my course worked OK in Powerpoint but not in the published course.

I came to the conclusion that, if you're linking to a "place in this course" and the slide that you're using as a target carries an interaction, then the link won't work.

Am I right, or am I missing something?

Hi Mel,

First, how are you viewing the published course? Try to make sure you're not viewing it locally, if possible - this is known to cause some issues with hyperlinks in published projects.

If you view a published Presenter '09 or '13 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
If you are uploading to a web server or LMS and still having trouble with the hyperlinks, please let me know.
Thanks!

Thanks Christine, but I think I tried all of that.

The publication and it's interactions were originally built in Studio 09, but I ended up rebuilding everything from scratch in Studio 13. However it still didn't solve the problem.

Several times I tried running the publication locally, and from a server.  I couldn't understand why some of the hyperlinks worked fine (locally and online), but others didn't. In the end I replaced the interactions with simple normal slide sequences and used branching to create the effect  that I wanted.
