I've done this before, so having to ask how is embarassing

Apr 07, 2011

A couple years ago I asked this question, was told how to do it, and the client thought it was spectacular.

Now I can't remember or figure out how to do it, which is really embarrassing.

Somehow I got all the Attachments to appear as individual "tabs" (please see the attached screen cap), "Aftermarket Parts, Devices by Manufacturer, etc. are actually "attachments" on the standard ATTACHMENTS menu.

I have not the vaguest recollection of how I did this.

Does anyone know and would they please remind me?

Thanks, JP

Like they are in this course? http://elearning-examples.s3.amazonaws.com/PsychedIn10/player.html

If that's what you're looking for, I think you go into the Articulate ribbon > Player Templates > Text Labels

and then scroll through and change the names. Attachments is near the bottom.

Sorry... no. Those are also interactions. I need to show PDFs and web links individually on the tab bar. JP

I know everyone is trying to help, but so far everyone is not addressing my question.

I guess I am not being clear. So one more time.

I need to put several DOCUMENTS and LINKS (not interactions) on the toolbar as individual tabs.

Normally documents and links appear under the single ATTACHMENTS tab. Click the Attachements tab and a window listing all the documents and links drops down. That is easy to do.

What the client wants is to have a number of documents and links EACH ON ITS OWN INDIVIDUAL TAB.

The Presentation would show an INSTRUCTIONS tab; clicking it would open the document "intructions.pdf". Next to that tab would appear the STUDENT GUIDE tab; clicking it would open the document "nsg.pdf". Next to that tab would be MAJORS tab; clicking it would open the link to \..\majors.html and so on.

Any idea how this might be done?

I tried it.

I even bought the PAID version back when it was about $25. It worked great for up to two tabs, but beyond that it seemed to have problems (tab s three and higher opened the documents listed on tab 2 or failed to respond at all).  I posted multiple requests for help on the frameentered website, but never got a single reply. About three weeks later when I was at DevLearn, I mentioned it to Tom and he offered that he'd try to get frameentered to respond. Nada.

I gave up.

I get what you mean but other than inserting as interaction tabs I have no idea. Although I am really interested in how you did this as well because I have been wanting to add documents as tabs as well. I

t might be useful if you could give us a screen shot of where the docs sit in the folder structure and maybe we could puzzle it out??

Are you positive you didn't use a 3rd party software?

Hi JP,

Sorry I missed your previous efforts to contact me.

Can you send me your published files for the course the is giving you trouble with the linky tab? Or maybe just a link to it if it's online somewhere?

Mr. Kingsley... sorry to be so long getting back to you after you generously offered help. In my "spare" time I've been looking for the old project (it was nearly a year ago). At the time, I simply confessed to the client that I could not do what they asked for, which they graciously accepted, and we went on without the feature. When the project was over as I archived the project I threw away the working files so I cannot provide them to you. It also looks like I got so frustrated with LinkyTab that I tossed the program as unusable.

That leaves me in the position of having to talk my boss into paying for it again and then go on from there.

Before I ask her to do that, can you assure me that LinkyTab will now allow me to create as many as 6 tabs on top "bar" that link to six individual documents? (As I can now recall, that was the problem before, LinkyTab would create the tabs, but all the tabs linked to only two documents (I confirmed that the links were correct), and after a few uses the tabs stopped working all together. I could "refresh" the page and the tabs would again link to the two documents and then quit)

Looking forward to hearing from you again.
