Simple question: Can you just have it reveal during the voice over without hiding it under another graphic first?
If you need to do it that way though, show the covering graphic first then show your "to be revealed" graphic second. Just make sure the layering is correct and that should fix the flashing issue.
The actual picture is a jpeg file of a plant and during the voiceover I want to reveal (in a wipe animation) certain parts to give the effect that it is growing.
So I have inserted the image and then placed white areas over the parts and then animated these to reveal the image.

I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentance.
Thanks

Set an entrance animation on your plant picture so that it doesn't load when the intitial slide loads.
Since the plant is covered anyhow, animating the plant in, after the slide loads, won't be seen by the learner.
You are seeing the plant flash because it is loading at the same time as everything else on the slide that isn't set to come in later.
Thanks Rebecca, I had considered that, but just wanted to check that I wasn't going off on the wrong route or missing something else.
