Imported file not playing in synch animation

Jan 08, 2014

Hi

This was working fine initially and I could hear my mp3 sound file that I had imported and synch it to the animation

My SME wanted to make a small change so I deleted the old recording and uploaded the new one

I cant hear a thing when I am now using the synch animation option

I can hear the audio file when I preview though

Any idea as to what the problem may be?

Thanks!

Hi there Yaz!

Did you place the project or audio file on a network drive or any other external source after sharing with your SME by any chance? Or could the project file be compressed? If so, please try moving your project files to your local hard drive, or decompress (unzip) the project files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If that doesn't work, are you able to remove and readd the audio again? It may also help to try adding the audio file in a new, blank presentation. Can you hear it when attempting to sync in the new file?

Thanks!

Yaz M

Hi Christine

Thanks for the response

  • I am working from my files on the local hard drive
  • Im not using any special characters in the naming
  • I have already tried removing and adding the audio again
  • The directory path has 79 characters
  • It does not work when I open a new presentation and try to import the file there

Thanks again

Hi Yaz! :)

Thanks for getting back to me with that information.

First please try the suggestions in this article:

Unable to sync animations if a slide has audio in both PowerPoint and Articulate

If that doesn't help, and since this isn't working in a new presentation file, are you able to play the audio outside of the presentation?

If so, please try repairing Studio:

Articulate Support - How to Repair Articulate Studio '13

How to Repair Articulate Studio '09

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

Hi Yaz,

Sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with this.

I'm still not sure which version you're using. It might be a good idea to go ahead and try the following troubleshooting steps. Just keep in mind that you'll want to follow the steps specific to the version you're using ('09 or '13).

Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Studio '09

Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Studio '13

What option are you using to export your content? If you're creating a package, that should include the files. If you're exporting to Word, however, it will not.

Thanks!

Hi Yaz,

I'm still not sure what version you're using, so I cannot determine whether this is an issue that we're investigating. Please provide that information when possible.

I'm afraid I cannot provide a suggestion in regards to your IT's restrictions - are they aware of the situation? Perhaps they could follow the troubleshooting steps themselves, in order to ensure no mistakes are made during the process.

Thanks!

Hi Yaz,

Certainly - we'd be happy to take a look.

Please create an Articulate Presenter package by following the steps in the following article:
