Importing Storyline output into Presenter

Dec 21, 2020

So, the thing is we have a bunch of courses that were done in Articulate Presenter for a number of reasons, and the client wanted some activities.

We used quizmaker activities and things were working fine for the moment, but then they wanted the users to be able to REDO de activity. I researched a bit, and saw that there's no way to redo an activity from quizmaker without first going through a result slide to reset the progress and redo the activity. The client doesn't want that extra slide, because the course isn't an exam, they're just interactions so the classes are a bit more dynamic.

Workaround 1 was to see if other types of interactions worked. Nope.

Workaround 2 didn't work either, which was making the activities have unlimited tries. It worked only if the user only got it wrong, but the moment they get it right, no more tries allowed.

Now, researched a bit more, and saw that you could import a storyline output as a web object inside presenter (as per this article). Great! I tried it a bit, works fine (can redo activities even if I do them correctly), but had to resize the story project to fit into the presenter slide neatly and without scrollbars. The article mentions a screencast where they do this, but the screencast is also unavailable.

Is this available? Is there any way to do it or another workaround? Any other tips and tricks or things to keep in mind?

I know the best course of action would be to move everything to Storyline, but time and time again it showed that importing a powerpoint into Storyline just messed up with the images and visual aspect of the slide, which takes a LOT of time and effort to rearrange (which we don't have honestly).

Hello Mica!

I'm so glad you found the article, but I'm sorry the video isn't available. I prefer to see videos as well, so I've created a short tutorial of these steps. You can watch the tutorial here!

I'd love it if you could update us in this discussion if this works for you! Also, let us know if you have additional questions.

Hello Lauren! Thanks for the reply and the video! Super easy to understand.

Unfortunately, that part I could figure out. My problem came afterwards, as the article I linked mentioned you could resize the web object by modifying some code or something to make it fit the screen and whatnot, but there was no written explanation for that.

I'd love to work this out because initial tests showed I could make it work just as the client wanted! Which is a great win :D

Would you happen to know how to do that? I mean the code part to resize the web object.

Hi Mica,

Although I'm also not familiar with how to modify the code in the index.html to change the size/width of the embedded web object - I wanted to chime in here and ask if you were still using Presenter '13 or '09?

We're ending support for those tools this year (2020) as Adobe ends support for Flash and they'll no longer work as outlined in this article: How the End of Flash Affects Articulate Apps and Courses.

If you're referencing the article but using Presenter 360 - no need to worry! Hopefully, someone in the community is able to weigh in on the modifications to the index.html file!
