IMSmanifest issue
Sep 01, 2011
We delivered 2 SCORM 1.2 compliant courses - course names are different. Within the IMSmanifest however, the names are the same for both courses. I'm not that LMS savvy, so I'm not sure how this is possible, but I can see it for myself. Actually the course name within the code is that of an older version of one of the courses - I believe our developer used an older base course to create these two new versions. Why would that old name stick? ...and what happens if I simply update the line of code in each IMSmanifest with a unique name? The common string of code looks like this: <langstring xml:lang="x-none">Here is the base course Common Name</langstring> ...I replaced the name with 'Here is the base course Common Name'
Thanks - all advice is appreciated.

You should be able to edit the manifest file, if they used the same articulate file to generate the course and did not change the publish settings then the names would be the same.
You should be able to edit it and then reload the scorm

Thanks... so let me clarify (because, as I said - I'm not a genius when it comes LMS related things). If I alter the code in that string, give 2 unique names I should be good to go? That is, if in Here is the base course Common Name ...I replace 'Here is the base course Common Name' with 'My New Name' and 'Your New Name' for my 2 SCORM packages and save, close, and reload the SCORM package that should do it?
...other than that string, is there somewhere else in the manifest I should change the name? ...for example
...sorry for picking your brain so much, but I'm very grateful

I would open in a text editing programme and do a find and replace for the current name, I am not sure how many places you need to change, but find and replace will sort that.
Keep a copy of the manifest file as a backup in case you mess up
Thank you, Phil. ...most helpful.
