imsmanifest.xml doesn't update new name of presentation
Oct 27, 2011
Hi,
I saved my presentation for uploading to an LMS (Moodle) and everything worked great, however I didn't realize that the file would show where students could see it, and I haven't yet discovered how, or if, I can hide it (though it seems that I should be able to, but that's a later problem to ask the Moodle folks). I named it differently from what the course is called-TB1Purpose-so that can confuse students because they can click the file and they can click the Enter course link, both of which will open the presentation. So I renamed the file to TeamBuilding1 to match the course name thinking that would take care of it and re-uploaded it to the LMS and deleted the TB1Purpose file. Everything still works beautifully, but in the list it's still showing as TB1Purpose. So then I thought perhaps opening up the PPT and republishing it would change the name, so I did that, changing the name in the publishing screen. Uploaded it, and though the file name is the new one, it still shows in the list as TB1Purpose.
So then I started looking through code and found that in the imsmanifest.xml file it was still calling the presentation TB1Purpose. Now I could go through and change all the instances in the code to the new name if that would fix it, but there are also other files that I can't open and see the code for and I have no idea if they even have anything to do with this.
So, my question is, why is it doing this (and I'll just make sure to choose good names to begin with from now on), and how can I fix it?

Hi Arlene,
Have a look at Step #7, down by the Title and Identifier fields, from this tutorial:
http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/publishing-a-presentation-for-lms.aspx
Is that helpful?
Thank you, so much, Peter! I completely overlooked double-checking what I'd put under tracking. Duh!
I'm new at this stuff, so sometimes I forget steps. And to think I went crawling through the code. I HATE code.
Awesome, Arleen!
This was extremely helpful to me. I had looked at those settings when I first published but then when I had the same issue in moodle as described in this post I was not sure where to go to fix it and felt overwhelmed.
Very good info/reminder. Thanks!!
Glad to hear it, Susan
