Inserted Flash "movie" doesn't fit in published Presenter13 course

May 02, 2014

The flash "movie" is a recorded training simulation (interaction) of computer program using Captivate 7. How do I adjust either the Presenter '13 size or the flash size to make them fit better? As you can see in the image, the movie fits horizontally, but not vertically. I've outlined the gaps in red where the background shows. The Slides that make up most of the eLearning fit properly.

It seems like the aspect ratio of your published Captivate simulation doesn't match the Presenter slide.  Your simulation appears to have a 16:9 ratio, while your Presenter slide is 4:3.

The 16:9 ratio comes from the monitor size of the computer you're using for the simulation (wide screen).  You have to change the aspect ratio to make the simulation fit the Presenter slide.  When recording the simulation, select the "application" radio button instead of the default "screen area".  Select the window to record, then resize the red border around the window (using the handles) while watching the application size at the top of the Captivate pop up window (use something like 1333 x 1000 px, which is 4:3) to record your simulation.

If you're using preset sizes in Captivate, choose a size with a 4:3 aspect ratio, such as 640 x 480, 800 x 600, or 1024 x 768.  All other preset sizes are 16:9.

You could rescale the existing swf file to avoid having to re-record, but it will look distorted and blurry.
