Inserting Captivate files in Articulate
Feb 10, 2011
I am using Articulate '09 to create an eLearning course. I am trying to insert some simulations recorded in Captivate 4 as Flash files.
I have selected the option in Articulate to insert as a "Flash Movie" and "display in new browser window". I have published the Articulate and ensured the Captivate files are copied into the 'Player' sub folder of the published folder. The problem I face is that there is an inconsistency in who can view the Captivate files, for some people it launches and for others it doesn't.
The other option we looked at was to insert the Flash File to "display in the slide" i.e. not to launch in a new browser window. This works but the quality of the captivate files suffers.
Would be grateful for any tips and knowledge in this area. Thank you!!

Hi Vicky & welcome to Heroes,
To add Adobe Captivate movies to Articulate Presenter presentations, please review the following article:

Hi Brian,
I followed the instructions in the above article and am still having issues. The captivate movie appears perfectly for ME, on my computer...but anyone I send the Articulate files to for viewing cannot see the movies. They can see all the Articulate content EXCEPT the Captivate movies (they just appear as a white screen).
Any further advice you can offer?
Thanks in advance,
Alison
Hi Alison and welcome to Heroes! I am guessing you added the movie as a web object. Web objects won't display offline due to security issues. If you want someone else to view it, host the content online and they shouldn't have a problem. The reason you can see it is we add a trust file that your Flash Player uses to allow the content.
Thanks for the response, Justin! A follow up question: can the code reside on one domain, and the files on a CDN?
I appreciate the help!
Hi Alison. A web object can be almost anything on the internet, regardless of the domain.
I'm sorry, Justin...I should've been more specific. When I host the Articulate file online, can the Articulate code reside on one domain, and the files on a CDN?
Thanks, again!
Hello all, I am having trouble with embeding captivate into articulate. I ave captivate cs5 and I know articulate doesnt support flash 3 and so that is probably the main reason why my captivate video is not working properly on articulate.
Is there any way to embed captivate into articualte, rather that by converting that file into a web object?
In any case, how can I eliminate the option of having a player for the captivate video and synchronizing it to the articulate player?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Angela & welcome to Heroes,
Yes, you can import Captivate 5 files into Presenter using web objects. For more information, see the link below:

Thanks a lot for your response!
