Internet Explorer 11 and document.all

May 06, 2014

Currently, we have Internet Explorer 8 and Articulate Suite '09

Our group received this morning, an email containing this information:

In June () will be rolling out a new version of Internet Explorer, version 11.

IE 11 brings about a few changes that will bring it into line with many of the more advanced browsers which is a good thing. However with this update a few items have been deprecated.

IE 11 no longer supports the JavaScript code for document.all(), the alternative they are suggesting is document.getElementById(). Information can be found here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/bg182625(v=vs.85).aspx.

We have done a search on all of our pages and found that under the () folder for () there are 2904 instances of that code. These are pages that are under the care of your area.

We strongly suggest you look at changing this code as there is no guarantee it will work after the new browser is launched.

We have found these document.all instances within the source codes of our products.

Will they cause any issues with IE11?

Will we need to go through all of our products and manually change them to the new extension?

Is it even possible for us to do that and have the products work?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. We do not know when this roll over is occuring, but we hope to be able to be up and running with as little fuss as possible.

S.
