Internet Explorer Compatibility

Jun 25, 2012

I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my Articulate presentation won't play in Internet Explorer.  I've spent a fair amount of money working with a website coder working out all of the security (as well as other) issues I can think of.

Basically, in Internet Explorer 8 using Windows XP (at work), when I try to open a page, the presentation won't fully load.  It starts, but then hangs up.  See the attached screenshot.

I really don't think this is an "Articulate" issue, per se.  I have come to learn that IE has a TON of issues when it comes to playing Flash files, but if anyone else has figured out what the hangup might be, I'd appreciate it.  More than anything, if/when someone trying to view the modules, I'd like to have some method I can offer them if it's an easy fix.  In the end, the best solution may just be to "not" use Internet Explorer 8 or below.  The content plays fine in every other browser.  Thanks.

Hi Tim,

Can you try the steps outlined here and let us know if you still run into the issue:

1) Download and extract this zip file:

http://www.articulate.com/support/files/TestPage.zip

2) Place the resulting HTML page in the same folder as player.html.

3) Follow the instructions in the HTML file on how to load the player inside a custom page.

If you're integrating your presentation into an existing site, you may need to copy the contents of TestPage.html into the desired HTML page.

Curious to know if that helps...

Thanks!

Hi, Tim -

Would you happen to be using an iFrame to load that content? I think IE8 and IE9 both have a problem parsing XML within an iFrame. You could try using compatibility mode meta tag or embedding the SWF directly on the page to bypass the parsing restriction.

meta http-equiv=“X-UA-Compatible” content=“IE=EmulateIE7”

You might be able to troubleshoot to isolate whether this is the cause of the problems by using the compatibility mode button:
