Intranet links not working and "Finish" button not closing IE

Jul 31, 2013

I have published a presentation for a client which contains links to their intranet site.

Apparently, the links work sometimes and not other times. I wonder if it might be an Internet Explorer security issue. I don't know what version of IE they're using.

Another intermittent problem is that when they complete the Quizmaker quiz (last slide in the course) sometimes the "Finish" button will close the IE window and sometimes it won't.

Any ideas what might be going on?

I've considered asking the client to load the course to a website and launch it from there to test the links and exit functionality. Ultimately, they do intend to have learners access the course from a website but we're just at the end of the QA phase now so they haven't tested the website option.

They were not planning to load the course to their LMS but I guess they could if that's the best/only option.

Thanks!

Hi Mike and welcome to Heroes!

Without seeing the file, it's hard to diagnose, but some things to consider:

1. To properly test links in your presentation, you should publish the presentation for the same environment where you will eventually host the content, and then test it in that environment.  Otherwise, local security restrictions may prevent your hyperlinks from working properly which may be what you're experiencing with IE.

2. The Exit tab can also function erratically based on where you're testing it, as described at the top of this article.

Have you been able to replicate these issues? If they're open to testing it on their website or within the LMS (however they chose to deliver the course) that would be the best option in determining what may be happening. Also, if you'd like to submit a Support case our team could test it too.
