iPad not playing YouTube video using Mobile Player
Sep 30, 2015
- I've embedded a YouTube video using the recommended 'Web Object' method and ?rel=0 at end of URL
- I've ticked the box to publish to Apple mobile player etc.
- I've tested across platforms and browsers and video plays OK across all EXCEPT iOS (multiple iPad2, 3s using iOS 7 and 8) using the app
- Bandwidth is >100Mb down, and presentation is working on multiple PCs on same network even after clearing Flash cache etc. with no delays
- The seekbar moves but the video shows black (not sure if this is just black or the first frame, suspect the former)
- All other parts of the presentation seem to work OK ie all work except the 2 slides with embedded YouTube videos
- I uninstalled the iOS app and in Safari, ran the presentation_html5.html and the presentation works - but not the videos ...
- I have not checked if 'private browsing' is enabled in Safari and am unsure if this could be a factor (please advise)
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try?
I've wasted most of a day on this :(
thanks!! :)

Hi, Seaghan -- So sorry to hear you are having such difficulty! Would you be able to create and share your Articulate Package so that we are able to do some testing for you on our end?
ok, thanks for offering :)
When you say share, do you mean by using the Add Attachment, or email or other? I'm not anxious to share client work publically, so if there was an alternative, that would be great!
Hi, Seaghan -- I can certainly understand your need for confidentiality! If you would like to share the file privately, please use this form to do so and I will check it out as soon as possible. :)
ok - DONE - thanks!
PS To decrease upload size, I reduced to 5 slides, the 5th one being an example of the YouTube not playing...
Hi, Seaghan -- Thanks for submitting your case! I am in the US and just finished for the day, but I will still try to check out your file this evening (and if i find the same results you did, i will be happy to redirect your case to our Support Engineers for further investigation). Thanks, and I'll be in touch as soon as possible!
no - please don't do that.
It's not that urgent, no one is hanging off a cliff ;)
take a look in the morning and enjoy your evening! :) - thanks!
Many thanks, Seaghan! Your case is now in my queue, and I will let you know what I find shortly. :)
