Issue with Windows 7 and Chrome

May 03, 2012

Anyone know of an issue with SCORM 2004 courses, windows 7 and Chrome? I have a client with an Articulate course that doesn't exit when the user is on Windows 7 using the Chrome browser...there is just a blank screen when they try to exit. It works on every other browser and every other OS...any ideas?

This is the email I received from Jay.
I've gone through the modules, and made a few notes (and fixed a few things, where necessary). A lot of the problems might be a problem with my browser.  I tried firefox as well, but it was not running well at all on my computer, so if you could just check these out, that would be great, thanks.
Please see my comments below.
Thanks,

Numbers:

I really like the spotlight in the Numbers chapter

Numbers slide 18 - rename slide title to "Practice Solutions"
Fractions:
Slide 7 stops playing for me at 0:26 --> can you double- check that this is OK -- I'm thinking it's likely a Chrome problem again.f
Slide 12 has a hitch around 0:05 that I have to manually scan past in order to start hearing the audio
Slide 12 - no flash logo present.
Slide 24 - Flash video starts, but after ~5 seconds, it aborts and the next slide starts
Slides 29, 34 and 41 also don't have any audio introduction to the problem.  I've attached the audio for each of these.
Exponents, Radicals, Logarithms
Slide 20 - the flash video stalls at 0:54. I can't scan past it.
Slide 28 has no audio track, and transitions immediately to the next slide.
Slide 30 - There's a typo in the slide - I've attached a new one.
Slide 31 - video starts, but then cuts out at various points while playing (Chrome problem?)

OK, thanks Evelyn!

Sounds like we'll need to taker a look at both the Fractions and Exponents courses' project files to see what's going on. You can send them to our support team by following some simple steps. First, create an Articulate Presenter Package of each presentation as described here. Then upload the resulting zip files from your computer on the second page of this form, and we''ll attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your uploads. Thanks!

The prof just gave me more information.

I will work on the changes and send the files to Articualte.

Below is the additional details that Jay just sent me.

I use a dual-boot (Ubuntu Linux 12.10 and Windows 7).  I had problems with Chrome on Windows, and problems with Chrome and Firefox on Linux.  I don't have IE installed.

Here's my WIndows 7 versions:

Chrome: 24.0.1312.56 m

Flash: 11.5.31.137 (not sure if i recently updated or not).

I'll send along my linux details when I switch back to that OS later on today.  I'll also see if I can downgrade to make them work... however, if I'm having this problem, it probably means that a good deal of users will have the same problems as well.. Hopefully this can be addressed.

Hope that helps,

Jason

I have done the changes. For Exponents module, slide 28 - the audio file wasn't there. I usually bakcup the narration folder and save it separately. Somehow that slide 28 audio disappear. This happen to me few times. After recorded slide, after working on it, one or two audio files disappear.

I am going to send to the two PPTs - Fractions and Exponents.

I received replied from you team but the response is not helpful at all. DIDN"T ANSWER THE QUESTIONS AT ALL.

Here is what I got from your team:

Thanks for uploading your Articulate Package for review. I downloaded and republished your Fraction file for SCORM 1.2. Then I test uploaded it to SCORM Cloud for review. I went over the list you presented and all are working except for Slide 24 where it jumps to Slide 25 immediately because the Advance option of the slide is set to Automatically. To resolve the issue, simply go to Articulate->Slide Properties->Advance, then Slide 25 to "By user".

Hi Evelyn,
I'm on my linux OS now, and the setup is pretty much the same, which is consistent with the problem you mentioned before.

Chrome: Version 24.0.1312.52
Adobe Flash: Version: 11.5.31.137

Hi Evelyn,

I'm going to paste Cleo's response here for my own reference because I'm not able to fully read your reply above.

I believe what Cleo is trying to express to you, is that when he tested your course on the industry-standard SCORM Cloud, your course ran as expected and he wasn't able to replicate the issues your prof listed, outside of Slide 25, which he fixed by changing the advance behavior. This would point to an issue with your LMS as the culprit for the issues you reported.

Please continue working with Cleo on this until you reach a solution you're satisfied with. He's an excellent engineer and is happy to help you reach a solution for your courses.

Thanks!
