Issues with Flash Movie

Feb 07, 2012

I'm trying to insert a flash movie into a presentation and having issues.  I started with a downloaded ARF file of a Webex recording and used the Webex Network Recording Player to convert the file to Flash.  (I wanted to convert to MP4 but we no longer have a Webex account, and you apparantly need a special add-in for recording player in order to do this.)  Anyway, conversion to Flash appear to work, and when i view the presentation from my desktop (using the .html player file) it works.  When I insert the flash file (selecting the Shockwave Flash File from the folder of various files) it works fine in the preview pane. However, once i add the file (using either open in slide, open in new browser window, etc... ) and then preview the presentation OR after I publish the presentation and then select preview, the Flash movie does not play.  Rather, what appears in the slide/window is the "information" screen that shows the initial meeting date, time, host, meeting number, etc.  I am an extreme novice, and know enough to be dangerous.... but it appears that the "player" file needs to somehow be pulled into the presentation, but i'm not sure how to do this when i can only select one file to insert. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Heroes, Julie!

Have you had a chance to review our article and related videos on how to properly insert .FLV, .SWF and MP4s into a presentation? You can find that here:

I'd also be aware of the best practices for Flash movies:

And of course, if you're still experiencing issues after following the above guidelines, you can send your files to our support engineers for additional help. If you'd like to do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!
