Issues with Studio'09 module published in Studio'13

Jan 08, 2014

Hi folks,

I help manage a site with 27 e-learning modules published using Presenter'09.  I took the most popular of these as my test case for trying out Studio'13 (Update 1).  When I opened this module in Studio'13, it prompted me to update the module to Studio'13 format, which I did, and everything appeared to work fine.

However, the published output, when viewed on a web server shows the following issues:

1. On some slides with animations, the slide finishes before the animation sequence is completed.

2. The font  size in the notes tab is not consistent.  For some slides, the font is so small as to be unreadable.

3. On several slides, some of the notes text is missing - i.e., the start of some sentences is not shown.

4. On ENGAGE slides, the font colour in the tabs is not consistent - some tabs are white font, others black.

NOTE: Issues 2 and 3 are not present when module is viewed using the iPAD Articulate player.

Have any others of you seen some or all of these issues?  If so, can you suggest any fixes?

Regards,

Willie.

Hi there Willie,

You mentioned some of the issues are not present when viewing through the AMP app on the iPad - are you viewing the project as HTML5 content when the notes formatting is off and/or missing?

If so, it may be related to this:

I would also check to make sure that you're not using the Notes Master in PowerPoint for formatting your notes. This has been known to cause some issues as well.

Articulate Support - Formatting Notes Via the Notes Master

For issues 1 & 4 - these happen when publishing for both Flash and HTML5, correct? Does this happen across multiple browsers (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Maxthon, etc.) as well as Safari and the AMP app on the iPad?

Thanks, Willie!

Christine,

Thank you for responding to my query.  With regard to your questions, none of the issues appear to be related to HTML5 in any way.  To double-check this, I republished the module without ticking the HTML5 box in the publish dialog.  All issues previously noted are present in the republished module.

NOTE: Issue 3 ( i.e,. some text missing from the notes tab - specifically, start of some sentences ) does not appear to be present when the module is viewed on the iPAD using the Articulate player, though I did notice that bullet point markers are not shown, but the bullet point text it.

All issues are present when the module is viewed on the following desktop browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, IE10, IE11, OS X Safari.  I do not have access to the 'Maxthon' browser.

Most, if not all, of the e-learning modules in our suite use the 'Notes Master' to format the notes text, thus ensuring standard font and font size across all modules.

I looked at the suggested workaround for the font size issue on the notes tab ( i.e., reformat the notes text font & size, slide by slide, using the Powerpoint ribbon menu ).  However, that solution is not really feasible for my situation, given the large number of e-learning modules I would have to deal with.

I think the notes tab font size issue is being worked and is expected to be resolved in the next Studio'13 update - is that correct?  Are any of the other issues I noted also being worked?  If so, when might we expect a further Studio'13 update to deal with those issues?

Thanks.

Willie.

Hi there Willie,

The issues may be related to some that we are already working to resolve, but without testing the project out on our end, I cannot say that's the case.

I recently submitted an issue related to missing Notes tab text - I wonder if this is the same issue causing the content to skip text as well. Would you mind taking a look at the thread below and tell me if trying the suggested workaround helps?

Slides hidden in menu can have characters missing in title display

I realize your project may not have the same characteristics as those in the thread I provided, but I'm curious as to whether or not the temporary solution helps with the missing text.

For the other issues that you're seeing, are you able to provide your project file? We'd be happy to take a look, test it on our end and verify whether or not these issues are related to bugs that we're already investigating. If they are not, then hopefully we can find a solution or send the information to our QA team for additional testing.

After you submit the support case, please share the case number with me. I'd like to take a look at the files myself, and follow along with any additional testing performed by our support engineers.

I'll also be able to update this thread and provide additional information on the issues and any possible fixes.

Thanks very much,

Christine

Hi Willie,

I sincerely apologize for the delay - I was out of the office for most of the day yesterday.

I was able to find your case, thank you very much for sharing the number. I do see that Karla is working with you on this. From what I'm seeing Karla was able to confirm some of these issues and it looks like there will be fixes in the next update that will resolve these.

It looks like you're both communicating regarding the slide calculations at the moment - I'll continue to follow along with that communication and contribute if I can.

Thanks!
