Issues with Windows 8 and IE 10

Nov 19, 2012

Hi,

Has anyone had any problems with completion being sent when using IE 10 on Windows 8?

I have a simple presentation that is not sending back a completion in IE10, but will work with Mozilla Firefox.

It will not even send the completion when running the course through the App on http://scormcloud.com.

Thanks in advance,

Darrell

Hi Phil :D

Great, thank you. If that's the case, have you republished the courses since you've updated, or are these courses that were already uploaded to Moodle?

Also, if you're viewing a course that you viewed prior to the update and you uploaded over the project, you may want to try clearing your browser cache, or recommending that your users do so.

If the problem continues for courses that you've uploaded after the update, can you confirm that this is only happening in Internet Explorer 10?

Thanks!

HI,

is this problem likely to be what is stopping some people viewing videos on SToryline?

I have produced my first course using videos and i can view them however some of my colegures can't ive convereted to different formats to no avail.

i have googlechrome and IE and i am wondering if that is why i can see the vidoes but others can't/

im also not clever enough to be able to see if my project is opening in googlechrome or IE when i launch it on my computer.  :-/

Can anyone shed any light on it?  This post is the closedt i have found as being a possible reason all be it tenatively.

@Alex,

Can you tell us a little more about what's happening with your course? You mentioned you're using Internet Explorer 10, but have you tested in other web browsers? Also, which LMS are you using? What information isn't being passed to the LMS?

@Rachel,

I'm afraid this wouldn't be the same issue, no. First, how are you sharing the course with your colleagues? Are you publishing and uploading the content to a web server, LMS, publishing for CD, etc.? Try to make sure they're not viewing the published output locally.

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
Thanks!

Hello again,

We finally had the chance to run the updater on all content. We use AICC and our own LMS. All in all it worked for the bulk of the lessons. We continued to have a problem with a couple of lessons but republished those with the new Studio 9 Presenter and Quizmaker and they seem fine now for IE 10 users. But... Since we did this we have had reports of instability, tracking and hanging issues from our Mac users. Here or there we didn't relate the problems but I have heard of problems from multiple students now and it seems to be a definite trend. I am gathering OS levels and browser information right now but figured I would look to see if anyone else was reporting problems with the latest updates for IE 10 and the Macs.

Hi Deborah,

I'm afraid I don't have access to a Mac to test this. If you still have trouble with this, can you pass the information you get on to our support team, please?

Hi, guys...first of all, I want to thank you for getting the patch out..it worked great for the issue.

However, with the recent update of IE9 to IE10 for Windows 7 users, I am seeing the same problem with the completion not coming back.

Works fine with Firefox, Chrome, etc.

I ran the course through a Scorm testing track, and Firefox was fine, but IE 10 still stayed at incomplete.

This was using Windows 7, and IE 10.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Thank you,

Darrell

Hi there Darrell,

Just to confirm, you installed the new update, republished and re-uploaded the project to your LMS, correct?

Are you using Articulate Online, or another LMS?

Any chance you should share an Articulate Package here? I'd be happy to take a look and see if I experience the same thing on my end. Or, if you'd like, you're welcome to send it to us privately.

Thanks Darrel!

Welcome to the community, Peter!

I'm afraid that's not a lot of information to go off of. Can you share a little more detail, please?

After installing the update, did you republish and upload the presentation(s) to the LMS? Which LMS are you using? If you overwrote the original presentation, are you able to upload using a new file name and test the course? If the new version reports successfully, it might be helpful to clear your browser cache.

Have you tested the presentation outside of the LMS? Have you tested your course in SCORM Cloud using Internet Explorer 10 and did you experience the same result in SCORM Cloud?

If you could provide a little more information about what's happening, hopefully we'll be able to get you up and running. :)

Thanks very much and welcome again Peter!

I am hoping someone who has used the Articulate Updater for IE10 on their LMS / FTP can provide some feedback on the results.

I have content created using Articulate Studio 9 (pre update) and Storyline on the Oracle/Taleo/Learn.com LMS platform.  I plan to do some individual testing, but hoped a community user could share their experience.

Our IT dept currently images new win machines with IE8, but plan to standardize IE10 by the end of the year.  We have seen a steady increase in the number of users experiencing completion issues and believe it is caused by users updating to IE10 on their own.

Thanks for any information you can share!

I also have a problem with Studio 9 created courses and IE10, but in my case the course won't even launch from our hosted LMS (ICS Learning, Inquisiq R3).

I have installed the updater and even tried republishing a couple of courses, but when the the course is launched, the launch page just 'hangs' and the course will not start.  I have to think this is an IE10 issue as the courses launch without any problem in Firefox and Chrome.

I have a tech support ticket in with ICS Learning but I'm hoping someone on this side of things can offer some assistance.

I'm having the same issue as Andrew above with my Storyline courses.  When users launch a course in IE10, the launch page comes up and the spinner just keeps going.  We have to switch to Compatibility Mode in IE10 to get it to work.

Andrew -- we have Inquisiq for our LMS as well.  Did you find a solution to this problem?

Thanks!
