Learning Game Problem

Feb 21, 2013

I have a Learning Game that is not functioning as it is supposed to behave. I have it set to require completion. However, it is housed between it's previous slide and several hidden slides that occur after it. So basically the layout is.

(1) Learning Slide with hyperlinks that link to about 6-10 pages that are hidden on the navigation pane

Learning Game (Should proceed to (2) upon successful score)

Hidden slide (Returns to 1) (Participants must read these slides to learn about (1))

Hidden slide (Returns to 1) (Participants must read these slides to learn about (1))

Hidden slide (Returns to 1) (Participants must read these slides to learn about (1))

Hidden slide (Returns to 1) (Participants must read these slides to learn about (1))

(2) Learning slide

What is happening is that if I click the next button without having taken the Game, the presentation moves to the first Hidden slide. I think it should not because it is set to require completion. Additionally, if my score is not passing and I click Advance, it still goes to the next page (2) even though they are supposed to pass the game successfully. Shouldn't it start it again? Or perhaps go back to the Previous page? And/or if I click the next button, it goes to the next Hidden slide. GRRRRRR! Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hi Joe, welcome to the community!

Think we could take a look at exactly how your course is set up? You can send us the project files and we'd be happy to help. First, create an Articulate Presenter Package of your presentation as described here. Then upload the resulting zip file from your computer on the second page of this form, and we''ll attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your upload. Thanks!

unfortunately not, it is proprietary information security information which if released would get me fired. Not really interested in getting fired at the moment. If you can do the best you can to make suggestions from what I have said above I would appreciate it.

I think some of the issue is that the Learning Games feature is limited, and likely not as robust or restrictive as the actual Quizmaker tool and thus may not ever get me to where I want to be.

Hi Joe!

I completely understand about the proprietary/security information - the last thing we need is to get you fired

I've tried to re-create the scenario you described and am not able to replicate the behavior. It might be a setting or property I've missed.

And you're right, the Learning Games are a bit limited in functionality and control, so Quizmaker is usually a better option.

All that being said, we'd still be happy to help out, but in this case, I think we'd really need to see the source files. We're able to sign a non-disclosure agreement or anything else you'd need, to ensure you won't get fired :)

Please let us know if you'd like to send in the files. Thanks!
