Load Flash Articulate SWF into another SWF file at runtime

Feb 04, 2014

Hi,

Normally, it's possible for one Flash file (.swf) to load another .swf at runtime. Is this possible with .swf files created with Articulate Presenter? When I trace my ActionScript 3 code, I can see the external .swf is being loaded and added to the stage, but no content is visible.

Everything is working as expected when I load a dummy test file.

Also, I did a search on this forum to see if this question has been asked before, but the search results were empty after trying various keywords.

Thanks,

Brad

Hi Leslie,

For what we're trying to do, it isn't necesary to package an Articulate presentation into a single swf.

In the sample Articulate presentation I was given, there's a story.html file. Launching story.html loads story.swf, which then accesses various external assets during playback. That's all good.

What I'd like to do is have an html file that loads a shell swf that can load story.swf as a MovieClip within the shell. In other words, the Articulate presentation would be part of larger Flash web application.

As I wrote previously, tracing the code shows that story.swf is being loaded into th shell, but it's not visible.

Tested with Firefox 27.0 and Chrome 32.0, both using Flash Player 12.0.

Thanks!

Brad
